Storyline:
In Canada, the author visited Indian storyteller Pi Patel and asked him to tell her life story. PI tells the story of his childhood in Pondicherry, India, and the origin of its name. One day his father owns a zoo, explained that the municipality is supporting the zoo and he therefore decided to move to Canada, where the family owns cattle will also be sold. They board a Japanese cargo ship and animals out of the blue, there is a storm, followed by shipwrecking. PI survive in a lifeboat with a zebra, orangutan, hyena and Bengal tiger male nickname Richard Parker. They are back in the Pacific, and aggressive hyenas and Rickard Parker hungry. PI need to find a way to survive.
